The original Technics 1200/1210 turntables are the gold standard for vinyl DJing. Refined over 25 years, nothing has surpassed the performance, feel or longevity of this classic deck. Unlike almost all other DJ decks, they also hold their value.

Technics discontinued the original series around 2006. The last model the produced was the MK6.

In 2019 Technics announced the MK7 to the world. Thing is, it’s not the same deck. It’s a completely new turntable designed and built from the ground up, that looks like the old 1200s. None of the parts (except for the lids) are backward compatible. Technics also forgot all the institutional knowledge about how and why the 1200s worked for DJing.

Worse, the new MK7 was not designed as a DJ deck. It was designed as a high-end audiophile turntable worth about $8000 AUD. Then, to release an ‘affordable’ DJ turntable they specked down the expensive version. It is plastic, it’s not heavy enough, there is no resistance in the fader, the damping is terrible and - worst of all - they are not built to survive ion a club environment.

We are seeing them fail left right and centre after only a few years of continual use. On one of them, the tone arm wires and solder gave out, and then a few month’s later the pitch fader gave out. These things last more then 20 years on the original series.

This is why we import and recondition OG Technics 1200 turntables. With the 240V power conversion and full service done by a licenced technician, we guarantee all our work.

We always try to keep a full range in stock - from the well-known MK2 up to the final OG model, the MK6 - but with a seven - eight week lead time (transport & service), sometimes we run low. Also, the rest of the world has realised all-of-the-above so supplied in Japan are running low, and the price is rising.

If you urgently require a model we don’t have in stock, we can air freight them and have them ready in ten days, but that adds $250 to the price - each. Or you can simply place and order for your desired model and wait the eight weeks.

If money is no object, we can also source high end models in near mint condition.
