We buy and trade vinyl (not 78s)

BEFORE YOU BRING RECORDS IN

  • If you have more than 200 records please call before bringing them in.

When you call, we can give you a rough idea on price if you know:

  • How many you have (a 30cm x 30cm cube/crate/shelf of records is about 100)

  • Generally what condition they are in (grading info here)

  • Very generally what genres/decades/artists they cover

PLEASE NOTE…

  • DO NOT MAKE A LIST. Unless you love making lists, they are of little use because there are so many variables.

  • We reserve the right to dispose of large collections dumped in our store without prior arrangement; especially old easy listeing, opera box sets, etc from deceased estates.

DROPPING OFF

  • There is on street parking all around us, and even a rock star right out the front if you get lucky. Records are heavy, we may not be able to help you get them from your car, so please plan.

  • PLEASE LEAVE YOUR NAME AND CONTACT DETAILS WHEN YOU DROP OFF. If you are in a hurry, have them pre-written and hand them to us. Having spoken to us on the phone or via email is not enough information for us to know whose records are whose.

  • If you do leave records here without contact details we follow this procedure: we hold on to them for two weeks. Then, if we do not hear from you, we appraise them and sell and/or dispose of them. Should you return after that, you will have to accept whatever decision we made regarding their value.

APPRAISALS

  • WE DO NOT DO ON THE SPOT APPRAISALS ON MORE THAN 10 RECORDS.

  • IN STORE APPRAISALS can be done Wednesdays and Thursdays only; on lots of less than 100 (1 crate) but you will need to leave them here and wait for our call back. This could take 30 minutes or 4 hours depending on how busy the store is.

  • Greater quantities must be left here and we’ll get back to you within 7 days.

  • Once we have contacted you with an offer (which we will attempt multiple times), we reserve the right to dispose of the collection if we do not hear back from you within 7 days .

HOW WE BUY

  • We buy in bulk and don’t cherry-pick (which would leave you with stuff you can't get rid of).

  • We generally only buy records in VG+ (excellent) to Near Mint/Mint. Read up on how to grade records here.

  • We offer more for trade, so maybe it’s time to prune your collection ;)

HOW WE PRICE

  • As a general rule, for records in MINT to NEAR MINT condition, we pay between 1/3 and 1/2 the median market price, which we ascertain using online sales figures.

    The breakdown for used collections is…

  • Easy Listening: $0 - think Nana Mouskouri, stage shows, classical, goon show, Burt Bacharach.

  • Filler: 50c - $1 per record. Think ABBA, Elton John, 12” Dance Floor Filler, RNB, Breaks, .

  • Killer: Up to $10 (sometimes more) per record. Think Pink Floyd, Prodigy, Tribe Called Quest, Rando 00s Minimal Tech, Groove Armada, Led Zeppelin. 

  • Rarities: sky is the limit
